Sight, Sound & Story: Behind the Edit of “The Morning Show”
Inside Episode XLIX: Go behind the scenes of Apple TV’s hit series “The Morning Show“ with the editors who bring its stories to life. In this special Sight, Sound & Story event, the show’s editing team will share how they shape the drama, build tension, and create the emotional moments that define the series.
Panelists include editors Sidney Wolinsky, ACE, Andrew Gust, Blake Maniquis, and Carole Kravetz Aykanian. They’ll discuss their creative process, how they collaborate with directors and producers, and what it takes to edit a show with complex characters and fast-moving storylines. From handling high-stakes newsroom tension to crafting quiet, intimate moments, these editors will reveal the challenges and choices behind one of today’s most dynamic television dramas.
The conversation will be moderated by Josh Apter, who will guide the editors through their workflows, tools, and approaches to storytelling. The panel will also screen some of the editors’ favorite scenes from the series, offering an inside look at how those moments came together in the cutting room.
Whether you’re an editor, a student, or simply a fan of the show, this is a great opportunity to learn how “The Morning Show” is shaped through the art of editing.

PANELISTS:

Carole Kravetz Aykanian was born and raised in France, where she started her career as a modern dancer and choreographer. After moving to Los Angeles to study filmmaking, she graduated from the American Film Institute (AFI), where she received the Joseph and Olga Auerbach Award. She cut the neo-noir classic “ One False Move” for director Carl Franklin and went on to collaborate with him on several projects, among them “Devil In A Blue Dress” produced by Jonathan Demme. Carole also cut the cult classic “Ghost World” for Terry Zwigoff and started another collaboration with Richard Shepard, for whom she cut several films, among them “The Matador”. Carole expended her creative skills by editing two Animated features: “The Little Prince,” directed by Mark Osborne, and “Entergalactic,” directed by Fletcher Moules. Her work in television is rich and varied, from comedy to drama. Among the many prestigious series are “Big Love”, “The Affair”, “How to Make it in America,” and more recently “The Morning Show” that she’s also co-producing.

Andrew Gust is a Canadian/American film & television editor who grew up far from the industry on a wheat farm in rural Manitoba. He eventually made the move west to Vancouver, where he cut his teeth working on Disney’s never-ending (but always logic-defying) “Air Bud” franchise.
Andrew is now based in Los Angeles, but continues to work on both sides of the border. He has worked across genres on a variety of feature films and TV series, including 20th Century Fox’s “The Hate U Give, “Netflix’s Emmy-nominated “Entergalactic,” Fox Entertainment’s “The Chicken Sisters,” and, most recently, Apple TV’s “The Morning Show.”
When Andrew is in between shows, you can likely find him woodworking in his garage.

Blake Maniquis is a Los Angeles native who assisted on large, VFX-heavy movies (“The Chronicles of Narnia, The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe”) and independent gems such as Grosse Pointe Blank. After editing some movies himself, he built a television career on such series as “Masters of Sex,” “Outer Banks,” and “Perry Mason.”
He lives in Los Angeles with his wife Michelle and two cats, Zippy and Dotty.

Sidney Wolinsky, ACE, is a Los Angeles-based film editor. His credits include “The Sopranos,” “Ray Donovan,” and “Power.” He received an Emmy for the “Boardwalk Empire” pilot and an Academy Award nomination for “The Shape of Water.”
