Inside the Episode: Step inside the world of Fallout with cinematographers John Conroy, ASC, ISC, and David Franco as they break down the visual language behind the series. In this episode, moderated by Chad Anderson, you’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at how an iconic video game universe was transformed into a bold, cinematic television experience.
John and David will share how they approached world-building through lighting, composition, camera movement, and texture. They’ll also explore how they balanced realism with a stylized, dystopian tone to bring the Wasteland to life.
Throughout the conversation, selected clips will highlight key moments and techniques, offering a closer look at the creative decisions behind the series.

John Conroy has had a successful career as a seasoned professional in the film and television industry. With over two decades of experience, he has made his mark as a talented cinematographer. Conroy is known for his keen eye for detail and his ability to capture visually stunning scenes. Throughout his career, he has worked on a diverse range of projects, including feature films, television series, and documentaries. His work has received critical acclaim and has been recognized with several prestigious awards. Conroy’s commitment to his craft and his impressive body of work have solidified his reputation as a highly sought-after cinematographer in the industry.

David Franco is a cinematographer and producer, known for Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, Ultraviolet, and Resident Evil: Afterlife.
Chad Anderson is a college professor, animation geek, poet, video editor & skateboarder from the Jersey Shore. He has worked on a range of editing and visual FX projects for corporate, educational, broadcast, non-profit, and military organizations all over the country (and once in Korea). Previous clients have included E! Entertainment, “The Charlie Rose Show,” the WB, The Count Basie Theatre and a film that went straight to video with John Stamos in it. He holds a Master’s in Education from NJCU and has been teaching for over 18 years.
